Make Your Ferret Litter in the Right Place

To train your ferret to litter in the right place, the best way is to get them a ferret litter box or tray. They can be easily trained to litter in the same place because by nature, they prefer to litter in the same place everyday. They are clever animals, so it is easier for you to train them. Ferret litter boxes and trays should be bought along with your pet itself. These trays should not be just placed in the cage alone but also in some points in the house after noticing where your ferret litters the most.
Litter boxes are made of different kinds of material. The best one for you and your pet is the one which has recycled newspaper in pellet form. It is environment-friendly, does not cause any allergies and it absorbs better than wood shavings. Wood shavings are fine but never give your ferret any aromatic wood in its litter as it may cause respiratory problems.
Never get your pet a litter box made out of clay as it may block the nose of your ferret. Also if by chance, it drags itself after littering, the clay may get stuck in its rectum.
Always keep your pet litter box in a corner of the cage well away from your pet sleeping place. Always remember to scoop the litter at regular intervals. Also clean it completely when you are cleaning the cage. When cleaning the cage, remember to clean or change your ferret’s bedding.
Notice whether your ferret litters in the right place everyday. If your ferret gets into the habit of littering in the box correctly then give it a treat. But however do not punish or scream at your ferret for littering in the wrong place. Ferrets can get sensitive and will not train easily after that.
Ferrets usually prefer a particular corner to litter. Find out your ferret’s favorite corner and keep the ferret litter box there to train it easily. Ferrets need to realize that litter boxes are meant for its personal use for it to get completely trained.

Tips and Tricks For Successful Ferret Litter Pan Training
Like all other living beings on this planet, ferrets too have the need to relieve themselves of toxins and waste from the body. If you have a ferret as a house pet then you can train the animal to use a ferret litter pan. This training is not difficult as ferrets are very receptive animals. During the initial stages of the training the ferret may have a few accidents; this is acceptable. Positive reinforcement is the best way to ensure that the animal learns to use the litter pan quickly.
