Ferret… Training?

I’m planning on purchasing a little ferret sometime soon, and is there anything that you can train them? I’m not speaking of such things as shaking hands, etc… But, is there anything that you can teach them?

Just curious, I previously owned a ferret that I loved to death… literally. He passed away after about 3 years of life. The only thing I didn’t appreciate was, if he got loose ( he had developed a knack for it ), he’d hide every sock he could find… Would there be anyway to teach them that this was an unwanted trait?

Thanks.

  1. Nope., Ferrets steal. They’re smelly little pirates ;)

But yes they can be trained. MY own girl would come when call, sit up and beg, roll over, climb from the floor to my shoulder, and play fetch :)

I am not shure, I want a ferret but not allowed to. You can teach them their names and stuff but thats the only “trick training” I know of right now.

  3. If you train a ferret its not as hard as a dog but they do bite pretty hard so don’t go to ruff!

  4. 3 years is a very short life for a ferret, my last one died at almost 10 years old.

The following group is not just about ferrets, we have members who own all sorts of pets.
